Chewie is still waiting for the right adopter. Chewie is our resident Sour Patch Kid. He is an 11 month old Chiweenie who was probably smacked across the face as a form of correction and is now fear aggressive with strangers. Chewie requires a single person home as he bonds intensely with his person and then will protect them from whatever he deems to be danger. He is a small dog, thankfully, because the odds are very good that you will be bitten by him until you are able to earn his trust. He will also apologize to you immediately after snapping. When you meet him you must wait for him to approach you for attention, which he will do quickly. Once he initiates contact with you, he will bond quickly, but he is resource aggressive against people only. He has no resource aggression towards dogs, which once again points to previous abusive behavior from humans. He's a happy little jaunty guy who should not be around small children, but would be a fantastic companion for anyone with a little patience, and the ability to correct him without physical contact. He reacts well to a firm no. He is potty trained, does not need to be crated, gets along fabulously with other dogs, but once again is possessive of his person, so a strong owner is required. He's a little guy, weighs about 11 lbs. If you're interested in Chewie please apply at ditrrmo.org. He is definitely worth the effort to get to know him, and he will make you laugh daily.
